Walking improves our health and well-being. Only one in three adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week. New research shows that increasing physical activity with exercise has many health benefits. The Power of Walking (POW) may reduce high blood pressure, lower the prevalence of heart disease, prevent diabetes, and help with weight loss. Come participate with us for 60 minutes one weekend day per month at our “Great Walks, Great Talks” connection group and begin walking and talking with a doctor, a pharmacist and others trying to get more exercise. You will also learn more about a current health topic from a special speaker. Walking is a great way to get the physical activity needed to obtain health benefits. Walking doesn’t require a gym or expensive equipment and can be utilized by all ages and fitness level abilities.
